People often ask me, "Hey, Carrie, how do you come up with your design ideas?" And I always tell them that they come to me in my dreams through a mysterious voice because that's a lot more interesting than the truth. The truth is I tend to work hard and fast. That's not to say I take any shortcuts; I just become intently focused on solving the problem at hand. I learned early on that to think creatively you must look for answers in every direction. Take the problem and meet it from different angles, find unusual connections, and seek inspiration in unconventional places. This is all done through research, communication, and being open to learning new techniques. Once the ideas come, I make a myriad of divergent designs, only stopping when I feel satisfied with the variance. All this hard work is because I want to make good designs that deliver messages in the most unforgettable ways. Of course, it would be nice if my ideas came to me in my dreams, but until then, I’ll continue to use my strong work ethic, witty intellect, and desire to help people.
